Persistence

Persistence beats resistance: Staying consistent even if it takes a little longer than anticipated

I’ll be honest with you the only time ‘success’ comes before ‘work’ is in the dictionary. Straight up, when it comes to achieving fitness and exercise goals, there’s absolutely no way around hard work! But we already knew that, right?

Like any goal setting, setting yourself a fitness or exercise goal requires an action plan or the steps in which you must take to achieve it. This is where the hard work is required. It could take one month, six months or even twelve months to achieve your goal, but it still doesn’t stop us hoping to see the results after day one, am I right? *sigh* If only it was that simple, as the good old saying goes ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day!’ It takes work, it takes time, discipline, commitment and motivation.

The work you put in, takes time for you to see changes and maintaining high levels of motivation through this assists with your levels of commitment and discipline. How motivated you are will stem from how badly you want to achieve your goal.

What does it mean for you to achieve your goal?

And what does it mean for you if you don’t? It’s all well and good saying you’re prepared to do what it takes to get to your goals, but are you prepared to DO what it takes to get to your goals. If Kellogg’s Nutri-grain has taught me anything in life, it’s that ‘you only get out what you put in’.

BE x DO = HAVE

So let’s think about that for a second, you have to be the person you need to be, to do the things you need to do, to have the things you want to have. Trust this process! Yes of course it’s not always going to be easy, but you have to stay consistent with what it is you’re trying to achieve with your overall fitness or exercise goal.

Whatever hurdles you’re faced with, you must maintain determination to continue and not be defeated. If you give up there is a 100% chance you will not reach your goal, remember that. I get it, some days are more challenging than others, physically and mentally.

However every day you show up is one day closer to your goal, every squat is a step towards to a ‘peachier’ summer. Just because the results may be taking a little longer to show doesn’t mean they’re not coming. Once you start the steps towards your fitness or exercise goal, don’t stop until you get it.

Don’t let excuses, problems, hard work or anything stop you from getting there and achieving your goal. Eventually your ability to keep going, your persistence, will overcome any resistance you’re faced with.

Always remember there is no shortcut, only hard work. Train hard and be patient, the results will come. Now it’s time to hustle for that muscle!!
